- Relax and have a conversation with the candidates ... that is the best way to get to know them.
- Carefully read the portfolio provided to you by Estate Domestics on each candidate and get to know them before you speak with them. Make sure to read their references and try to look for the positive and also areas that you need to discuss.
- Whether conducting a phone interview or a face to face interview take the time to write down the questions you have based on the review of the candidates portfolio and based on the requirements of the job you are seeking to fill. Some recommended questions are:
- Why is the candidate leaving their current post?
- Does the candidate need to give notice to their current employers and if so, how much notice is required?
- Confirm that the candidate can work the schedule you require.
- Are there any times that the candidate is aware of before the start of employment that the candidate knows they need to take off.
- Be certain to ask questions that relate to how the candidate handles certain situations specific to the position that you are trying to fill.
- Does the candidate have reliable transportation to and from work?
- Allow the candidate the opportunity to ask questions.
- Schedule a time when the candidate can come to your home and meet your family and other domestic employees (if applicable), to interact with them and take a tour of their work environment.
